Dear students,

I´m writing to let you know the schedule for the interviews for Assignment #4 in office hours, starting on Monday, May 31st.

Should you have any concerns about the dates assigned to you, please let us know tomorrow in class or after class. I’ll be at the CELE office until 10:30.

I also wanted to tell you that we have decided to ask for a second version of the essay on the short story Tactical Exercise (Assignment #3). The second version of Assignment #3 is due Wednesday, June 1^st during class hours (12:00 – 13:40). 

You should work on your first version and edit the essay taking into account the feedback provided by the teacher who corrected your paper, and also all our comments made in class during this week. Together with the feedback on your essay and our comments in class, you should review the material on essay writing uploaded on the blog during this semester. When you hand in your assignment, you should include the first version as well; if you don´t, we will not correct the assignment.

Please take into account that you won´t be able to see us in office hours to help you with your second version of Assignment #3. We consider that the feedback we´ve given you should be enough. Also, you may ask general questions during our class tomorrow.

Dear students,  

The essay topic for the final Language III exam on Wednesday, May 18^th, 2016 will be based on Interpreter of Maladies by Jumpa Lahiri.

Please read the text very carefully and revise the notes on essay writing, especially those on cause-effect analysis and on introductory and concluding paragraphs. Don´t forget to review the outline layout and the connectors you should use for the different modes of development.

Dear students,

I´m attaching the outline we worked on today and last Wednesday for you to write Assignment #3, an essay on Tactical Exercise.

The assignment is due Monday, May 16. You may hand it in in class or leave at the CELE office no later than 12:00.

I´m also attaching the ppp that we used today in class.

Please, remember to write a concluding sententce to each of the developmental paragraphs, and a concluding sentence to the whole essay in a separate paragraph.

Also, you should write a title to the essay. Please read our guidelines on writing titles and our comments on problems in Assignment #2 on the ppp we used on May 11 (also on this blog as “Feedback on Assignment #2”).

Dear students,

We finally decided to continue working on the essay outline on Friday, May 13^th. Please, read again and work on the story Tactical Exercise to be able to participate more actively in the construction of the outline to a cause analysis essay on the text. Assignment #3, which will consist in writing the two (or eventually three) developmental paragraphs, will be due Monday, May 16^th. You should hand in the assignment during class or right after the class, no later than 9:40.

Group A students please read again and work on the story The Legacy. I would like to round off the discussion we started on May 6^th.
