Dear students,
The essay topic for the final Language III
exam on Wednesday, December 19th 2018 will be based on The
Namesake by Jumpa Lahiri.
The essay topic will be on Gogol. Please
read chapters 6 and 7. The method of development you will be asked to use is
contrast. You should focus on Gogol´s attitude towards his
family before and after his father passed away. Take
into account his parents' way of living and their cultural background. You
will be allowed to have a copy of the novel with you.
Don´t forget to review our notes on
comparison and/or contrast, the outline layout, and the connectors you should
use for the different modes of development. You should also review our
guidelines on introductory and concluding paragraphs.
Please remember that on Monday, December 17th,
and on Tuesday, December 18th we will not answer questions related to the essay
topic in office hours; we will not check your outlines or possible outlines for
possible theses statements.
If you have already enrolled and decide
not to take the exam, please send me an email through the blog or the virtual
platform.
