Essay topic for LANGUAGE III 2019 and LANGUAGE III 2018 (and previous years) final written exam (essay topic)
Dear students,
The essay topic for the final Language III 2018 (and previous years), and for the Language III 2019 exam on Wednesday, November 27th, 2019 will be based on A Drink in the Passage. The topic for the essay is “Discuss the reasons for Edward Simelane’s uneasiness the night he went to see his sculpture at the bookstore”. For this topic, consider the following two main reasons: A) Simelane´s distrust of Van Rensburg, and B) his fear for breaking the law. The mode of development we´ll ask you to use is cause analysis.
Please read the texts carefully. You will be allowed to have the text with you. Don´t forget to review our notes on cause-effect analysis, outline layout, and the connectors you should use for the different modes of development. Language III 2018 (or previous years) should also review our guidelines on introductory and concluding paragraphs.
Please remember that on Monday, November 25th, and Tuesday, November 26th we WILL NOT answer any questions related to the essay topic in office hours, nor will we check possible outlines.
