Dear students,

The essay topic for the final Language III exam on Wednesday, June 29th, 2016 will be based on The Namesake by Jumpa Lahiri. You should focus mostly on Chapter 6. Some possible topics are:

a) Contrast Maxine’s and Gogol´s attitudes towards their parents
b) Contrat Maxine and Gogol
c) Contrast the Radcliffs' and the Gagulis' lifestyles

Please read the text very carefully and revise our notes on comparison and/or contrast. Don´t forget to review the outline layout and the connectors for the different modes of development. You should also review our guidelines on introductory and concluding paragraphs.

Kind regards,

Prof. A. Argerich

Dear students,

For the Mid Term Test II Part II tomorrow, please, also read the first of Part 2 of the novel where Montag is reading to Mildred until the moment he leaves for Faber´s house.

See you tomorrow,

A. Argerich

Dear students,

We would like to let you know that tomorrow, for the essay, we will work on Part II of Fahrenheit 451. Please re-read it carefully because you won´t have the copy of the novel with you. Focus on the scene where Montag gets back home after visiting Faber. We will give you the thesis statement and one of the topic sentences, the first one. Also, we will develop the first developmental pararaph. Your job will be to write the second topic sentence, supporting ideas for it, and to develop the second developmental paragraph. You will have to write the concluding sentence to the whole essay as well. You may use your dictionaries, but not your cellphones.

Kind regards,

Amparo Argerich
